Actor Ray Winstone told LBC Radio that he was angry the government would be spending money on HS2.

He said: "Don't kid to me that my tax is going to the right places, cos it's not. They want to build a new railway track to get us to Birmingham 15 minutes earlier and spend billions of pounds on that - well not for me.

"Let's build a hospital, lets make sure our education is proper and kids go to school and learn something.

"If I pay the amount of tax that we all pay, I'd like to see where it goes, I'd like to spend it on the things that we all want it spent on."

The  actor, famous for his hard-man characters, was promoting his latest film Noah at the station earlier this week when he said politicians should be held accountable for not fulfilling their manifesto promises.

"They say they are going to attempt to do something and they never even attempt to do it. For me, that's fraud," he said.
