A WEMBLEY apprentice got the chance to visit Downing Street.

Cineworld Wembley apprentice, Ranjeet Nanrah, 19, from Hounslow, visited Downing Street on Thursday March 6 to attend a conference.

The visit was part of National Apprenticeship Week from March 3 to 7 and the cinema business had been invited to the home of the Prime Minister.

The Trailblazers conference is a government initiative that supports employer led apprenticeships.

Ranjeet Nanrah joined Cineworld after completing his A Levels.

He said: “It is very exciting that within six months of me starting at Cineworld, I’ve had the opportunity to attend the Trailblazers reception at Downing Street and to be a part of this great initiative. Being an apprentice at Cineworld is an excellent way to learn about working in the cinema industry hands-on and I’ve really felt supported by Cineworld every step of the way.”

Stuart Holdsworth, national head of learning and development at Cineworld, said: “We currently have 175 apprentices, with 140 studying our retail programme and 35 studying the Cineworld Advanced Apprenticeship. We take great pride in the apprenticeships we offer young people, but really believe there is a need for a framework to be in place to help ensure the same standard is set across the industry. Cineworld’s involvement in the Trailblazers project demonstrates our commitment to investing in employee development and career opportunities for young people and Ranjeet is a great example of that.”
