Hundreds of families descended upon Harrow Weald Recreation Ground to enjoy a fun day in the park on Saturday.

Children played on a bouncy castle and had their faces painted at the annual fair held in the grounds, which is also known as Box Tree Park.

Entertainment included live music from gospel acts and performances from singers Lisa Mayers, Faith Child and Priscilla Denny.

This year's Extravaganza in the Park 2008 was launched by the Mayor of Harrow, Councillor John Nickolay (Conservative), and was the third to be organised by Cornerstone Pentecostal Church.

Julian Ansah, events coordinator, said: "Despite the fact it was pouring with rain earlier in the day it was a great success.

"More than 300 people turned out to the event and the children really enjoyed themselves.

"There was even a five-a-side football tournament. We hope to plan another fun day next year."

Cornerstone Pentecostal Church meets every Sunday at Wealdstone Baptist Church in High Street, Wealdstone.
