Children enjoyed pony rides, archery lessons and the chance to hold a python (for those who dared) at a primary school's summer fun day in Hounslow.

Tarbiyyah Primary School, in Green Lane, Hounslow, also organised funfair rides, a barbecue and other attractions at its fete last Sunday (August 24).

The event was held at Central Park Estate, a stone's throw from the school in Staines Road, to raise money for school trips in the coming year.

Zaheer Kadri, the school's vice chairman, said: "The children had an amazing time with all the different activities on offer. We hope we can make this grow and next time invite the mayor and council leaders so they can see the good work being done within the community."

He also thanked Aberdeen Asset Management for giving the school free use of its land.

The Islamic school opened in 2011 with just five pupils but now has about 150 children.
