A SMALL gift could make a big difference to sick children in Harrow this Christmas so the Observer is once again calling on all readers to get behind its annual Toy Appeal.

Our Yuletide campaign, which is now in its fifth consecutive year, helps put a smile on the faces of poorly children who face spending the festive period in hospital.

In previous years, readers have shown extraordinary generosity and we are once more asking you to add a small gift to your list of presents this year to give to a child at Northwick Park Hospital.

In December, presents will be delivered to the hospital in Watford Road, Harrow, by a special guest - but this can't be done without your support.

In the past, the likes of music sensations Scouting For Girls and Kate Nash, as well as Chronicles of Narnia star Anna Popplewell and TV favourite Fearne Cotton have helped deliver the presents to cheer up sick youngsters at Christmas.

No presents will be left behind as any remaining gifts will find their way to deserving families via Harrow Council's social services department.

Our appeal has once again been backed by Harrow Council and St

Ann's Shopping Centre, who have agreed to allocate convenient areas for you to drop off your gifts.

You can leave your present at any library across the borough while shoppers can leave gifts with the management office at St Ann's Shopping Centre in St Ann's Road, Harrow, which is located through the doors between the KFC and Spud U Like counters upstairs.

The Observer's multimedia content manager, Shujaul Azam, is urging readers to once again show their support for the campaign. He said: "We are delighted to be launching our Christmas toy appeal.

"I know you have been extremely generous in the past with your donations and this has brought great joy and happiness to children across the borough.

"With many families struggling this year due to the economic climate, your generosity, I know, will be even more appreciated."
