HIGH school pupils gained an award for their creativity in a national business competition.

Pupils from Hatch End High School in Headstone Lane competed against 25 other schools and sixth form colleges from across the UK and received a prize for the ‘best creative recommendations’ in the ICAEW’s Business Accounting and Skills Education (BASE).

Competing against 1,500 teens nationally, the pupils had three hours to take on the role of chartered accountants using fictional organisations and come up with ideas which were presented to a panel of business professionals.

Accountancy teacher at Hatch End High School, Peter Richards, said: “I was proud to see young people take challenges head on and, more importantly, for Hatch End pupils to have the opportunity to showcase their excellent technical and interpersonal skills in a business environment.”

The competition is run by the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW) and aims to make 16 to 18-year-olds aware of chartered accountancy as a profession.
