Young pupils expect to raise over £1,000 for the British Heart Foundation after a spectacular activity day.

Students from Buckingham College Preparatory School in Rayners Lane, Pinner, teamed up with staff and parents for Ramp Up The Red day on Friday, which aims to raise money and awareness for the British Heart Foundation charity.

Everyone came dressed in red as children made donations, took part in sporting activities and rounded off the day with a heart-shaped cake sale.

It was not just the children who got involved however. Teacher Claire Bright ensured everyone got into the spirit of things by doing red nail painting.

Annette Gooder, who teaches the reception class at the school, said: "We have already raised £700 and are hoping to double that.

"Everyone got involved from the children to the pupils to the parents so it was a great team effort and we are looking forward to welcoming Stephanie Davenport from the British Heart Foundation here to do an assembly with the children."
