Pupils at a Pinner school put together a large paper chain as part of a record breaking bid in aid of a children's charity.

The youngsters at Reddiford School in Cecil Park, a prep school for four- to 11-year-olds, made the 171-link chain during Friendship Fun Day on Wednesday last week, to raise money for Save the Children.

It will be joined to other chains from schools across the country to create a new world record.

Teacher Jenny Fretwell was delighted with the success of the day, which also included a cake sale.

She said: "Children from every class from year one to six joined in the paper-chain-making and they all absolutely loved it.

"The cake sale helped raise about £220 as well, which is a fantastic achievement, so we are really pleased with the success of the whole day."
