Staff and punters at a pub in Feltham have helped raise more than £1,000 for Cancer Research UK.

The General Roy, in Poplar Way, drummed up £1,400 through activities including fun runs, family fun days, quiz nights and Easter games.

The fundraising was part of a wider Sizzling pubs initiative whereby more than 300 pubs collectively raised £122,599, the largest donation the group has ever made to the charity.

Dominic Wills, general manager at the General Roy, said: “We’re thrilled to have raised over £1,400 for Cancer Research UK and think it’s fantastic that the brand as a whole managed to raise so much.

"At Sizzling Pubs, we’re always looking for ways to engage with the local community, so this was a perfect initiative for us to get involved with.

“All the team here at the General Roy really enjoyed taking part in the fundraising and it was a great way to give back to those who need it most.

"We will definitely be taking part in future initiatives like this.”
