A PUBLIC inquiry about an advertising tower dubbed a ‘monument to greed’ by critics is due to open later this month.

The hearing about the 25-metre illuminated monolith at the Dairy Crest Factory, in Hanworth, will be held at Hounslow Civic Centre, in Lampton Road, on Tuesday, October 30, from 10am.

JC Decaux was ordered by Hounslow Council in June to take down the structure, beside the A316, following complaints from local residents.

But the advertising company appealed against the ruling to the Planning Inspectorate, which will make a decision after the inquiry.

The original application to build the tower was rejected by the council in 2005, but then approved on appeal the following year. It was built three years ago.
