A pub that advertised its summer party by putting up posters in the street has been fined.

Hillingdon Council’s Anti-Social Behaviour (ASB) team fined an employee of the The Swan in Iver £200 after posters were found near High Road, Cowley and on the junction of Iver Lane and the High Street in Cowley.

Fly-posting is a concern for the council because they are often put up at busy road junctions, blocking the view for drivers and causing distractions. They are also an eyesore and can create litter.

Councillor Douglas Mills, cabinet member for community, commerce and regeneration at Hillingdon Council, said: “Advertising in the borough should be presented neatly and displayed in appropriate locations, having gained all necessary permissions, in order to keep our borough safe and tidy.

"When our ASB team discovers posters that have been put up illegally, they can fine those who are responsible.”
