A proposal for a coach depot in Perivale is becoming a matter of concern among people in the area.

The planning application by P & J Ellis is for the change of use of land in Aintree Road from a general industrial unit to a coach depot, together with erection of a noise attenuation barrier and alteration to the lighting.

The London based coach hire business put a planning application through to Ealing Council at the end of November, and although the formal consultation period is now over, people can still comment on the plans until a decision is made at a committee meeting next month (April).

Perivale Ward Independent Councillor Candidate 2014, Alex Nieora, said: “Perivale already has a problem with HGV lorries going down Bilton Road causing people’s homes to be shaken and creating a lot of noise.

“The concern is if you have 20 or 30 coaches there which I think is what is being proposed.

“That road is used for school runs to St John Fisher School and parents are worried a coach depot would create chaos.”

Mr Nieora added: “The question a lot of people are asking is why there is ground preparation building work going on before the planning application has been granted.”

Mr Nieora runs the Facebook group Perivale People and posted a comment informing people of what was being proposed, to which he received plenty of replies.

On the public Facebook group, Rahul Malhotra, said: “There seems to be a lot of sites and buildings where work is started before the permission is granted in the area, slightly suspicious and worrying, I shall be raising this to the council and to our local MP and perhaps request an investigation.”

Magdalena Flynn, on the group, said: “Has anyone seen the applicant’s or council’s environmental impact assessment? This document should be made available to residents.

“We should ask if the council or the applicant can demonstrate how the impact on the local traffic and safety of the pedestrians will be mitigated by any improvement benefiting the local community directly.”

The council say the committee meeting scheduled for either April 2 or 23 would be the earliest possible date this application could be presented.

The applicant was asked for a comment but did not respond.
