A STREAM of classic cars and celebrities revved their way through the borough to kick off the exclusive Salon Privé supercar show at Syon House.

Jamiroquai front man Jay Kay headed up the 21 mile Tour d'Elégance in his precious 1969 Aston Martin DB6 Volante with Lord George Percy, the son of His Grace Ralph Percy the Duke of Northumberland who owns Syon House, in the passenger seat.

A collection of 30 cars and motorbikes travelled from Epsom, through Richmond Park to Syon House for the UK's most prestigious supercar show, Salon Prive, which began yesterday (Wednesday) and finishes on Friday.

It is the seventh year in a row that the famous house and grounds have been used for the exclusive event.

Salon Privé has all the best and most expensive cars for sale, but it is also high up on the London social calendar, with Boodles Ladies Day which takes place today (Thursday) more akin to Royal Ascot.

Grammy Award-winning musician Jay Kay, owner of over 50 luxury cars, is to be part of the judging panel which will hand out awards to the most stylishly dressed ladies during afternoon tea.

Guests, who paid upwards of £200 for their tickets, will also get to enjoy a two course lobster lunch and a Pommery champagne reception.

Not only a car show, the event is also a shop window for new models, and top of the ‘must have’ list for those with deep pockets is the Bentley Continental GT Speed.

Marking the first time it has been on sale anywhere in Britain, the mega machine weighs in at £151,000, can do 0-60mph in four seconds and has a top speed of 205mph.
