The post-mortem examination of the man who died after a collision near Hillingdon Circus is expected to be held today.

The 78-year-old man is yet to be formally identified but police say he was local.

The man was on foot when he was involved in a collision with a white Renault Kangoo in Freezeland Way, Hillingdon, on Friday, October 10. The driver stopped at the scene and was not arrested.

London Ambulance Service was called to the road at around 11.30am, and it alerted the police and the London Air Ambulance crew, who provided medical assistance but were unable to save the man, who died at the scene.

A London Air Ambulance spokesman said: “We were called to reports of a road traffic collision involving a pedestrian and a car near Hillingdon Circus. Sadly, despite extensive efforts to resuscitate the patient, a man was pronounced dead at the scene by the doctor from London’s Air Ambulance.”

An eye witness described seeing workmen who appeared to be repairing a cycle path that runs the length of the slip road which serves the A40.
