This unusual 'elephant graveyard' chalk drawing trumpeted the anti-ivory trade cause in Portobello Road at the weekend.
The elaborate 3D representation of an 'elephant graveyard' was daubed on the pavement on behalf of the International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW). The organisation organised the stunt in a bid to urge puzzzled shoppers not to buy 'deadly ' ivory goods.
UK Director of IFAW, Robbie Marsland, said: "Poaching to satisfy people's desire for ivory trinkets continues to cause the deaths of a staggering 20,000 elephants each year. Ultimately, when the buying stops the killing will too."
