WITH just two weeks to go until polling day, it was time this week for some of Harrow's parliamentary hopefuls to roll out their political big guns.
Rachel Joyce, the Conservative parliamentary candidate for Harrow West, called on Mayor of London Boris Johnson, while her counterpart, Labour's Gareth Thomas, was joined by chancellor of the exchequer Alistair Darling - for short stops in Harrow.
Mr Johnson, who was met at Harrow-on-the-Hill Tube station by Dr Joyce and a handful of Conservative councillors, was given a brisk tour of Harrow's main shopping centres before making a trip to Stanmore.
Mr Darling meanwhile was shown around Rayners Lane by Mr Thomas and Labour's candidate for the Ruislip, Northwood and Pinner seat, Anita McDonald.
Residents in Harrow will get the chance to quiz Rachel Joyce, Gareth Thomas and the other Harrow West candidates Chris Noyce (Lib Dem), Herbie Crossman (UKIP) and Rowan Langley (Green) at a hustings on Monday night.
Churches in North Harrow are holding the general election forum at North Harrow Methodist Church in Pinner Road, North Harrow, from 8pm to 10pm.
Candidates for the Harrow East parliamentary seat, meanwhile, can be questioned at a similar forum next Thursday.
A selection of Wealdstone and Harrow Weald churches are staging the event at All Saints' Church in High Road, Harrow Weald. The hustings will run from 7.30pm to 9pm.
Questions are invited in advance and should be submitted via email to firstname.lastname@example.org or by post to The Parish Office, All Saints' Church, 90 Uxbridge Road, HA3 6DQ to arrive no later than April 28.
Supplementary questions and comments will be invited from the floor on the night. * Election round-up, pages 18-19.
