SHOPPERS in Pinner are being urged to take care of their handbags while shopping in the village.

A number of bags have been stolen recently from shops and cafes, including Cafe Nero and Marks and Spencer.

On Tuesday September 27 a purse belonging to a 64-year-old woman was stolen from a bag in the coffee shop and the credit cards were later used to withdraw a "substantial amount" of cash in Wembley and Islington.

No arrests were made but enquiries are ongoing.

In a separate incident a purse belonging to a 61-year-old woman from Marks and Spencer in Pinner on Wednesday September 28.

However the purse and its contents were later recovered in tact by the owner.
