AMBULANCES were called after a dramatic road accident involving a police van and a double decker bus in Uxbridge this morning (Monday).

The crash happened at around 6.40am at the junction of Vine Street and Hillingdon Road, Uxbridge.

The police van careered into railings and a crash barrier after hitting the front of the bus on the drivers side, with both vehicles sustaining heavy damage.

One of the first people on the scene was Alan Hayes, who works in Baker's Road, Uxbridge.

He said: "It looked a nasty accident, the van went right into the railings, I don't think anybody on the bus was hurt fortunately, there was debris all over the road."

LAS confirmed one person was taken to hospital.
