POLICE are continuing to appeal for witnesses and information following the armed robbery on Thomson travel agents in High Street last week.

Two men aged 21 and 22 have appeared in court in relation to the incident, each charged with one count of robbery and one count of possession of a firearm.

At about 9.10am last Tuesday, a man knocked on the door of the shop and, believing he was a customer, staff let him in. As they did so, he covered his face with a balaclava and produced a handgun.

A second man came in, also wearing a balaclava, and stayed with two members of staff at the front of the shop while the first man took one employee to the bureau de change and demanded money.

A member of the public noticed the suspects inside the shop and called police. When they arrived, the men fled through a back door. No one was injured.

Witnesses later saw police officers tackle a man further along High Street, close to the entrance of Churchfield Gardens.

One of the men who fled is described as black, tall and slim. He was wearing a dark suit with a smart, light-coloured shirt and black shoes.

The second man was also black, of a stocky build. He was wearing casual clothes and dark-coloured trainers.

Detective Sergeant Don Simon said: "I would like to speak to anyone who may have seen men fitting these descriptions hanging around in the area prior to the robbery, or saw the robbery take place.

"I am also keen to trace any clothing which may have been thrown into the gardens of houses on Eastcote Road which back on to the park, and I would ask residents to check their gardens for any clothing which does not belong to them.

"Any information given to us would be treated in the strictest of confidence."
