A FULHAM ambulance worker has praised police after they caught a man who headbutted her while she was treating him.

Emergency medical technician Paula Waters was on duty in the early hours of Wednesday, June 6, when her team was called to Uxbridge Road, Shepherd’s Bush after reports that a man was unconscious on the pavement.

When they arrived she found 25-year-old Marcin Wroblewski unresponsive and surrounded by empty beer cans.

As she started to help him he regained consciousness and headbutted her in the chest.

As he fled the scene he began kicking wheelie bins and bicycles. along the road.

The ambulance team called the police and Wroblewski, who is homeless, admitted common assault when he appeared at West London Magistrates Court on Wednesday last week.

Speaking afterwards, Ms Waters, based at Fulham ambulance station in Seagrave Road, praised police for helping ambulance workers who often find themselves in dangerous situations. She said: “I’ve been in the job 11 years and I can get a sense of when a situation can turn, but this all happened so quickly it caught me off guard.

“When I saw what he did to the bike I thought, ‘that could have been me’. I am just really pleased at how quickly the police responded and for the support from my colleagues at the service.”

Wroblewski was given a 30-day prison sentence which magistrates ruled he had already served after spending 34 days in custody from the day he was arrested.
