ANTISOCIAL groups gathering in Southall Broadway can now be banned from the area for 24 hours.

A new dispersal zone has been brought in from the junction of Southall Broadway and Bankside in the west to Southall park in the east and from Spikesbridge Road in the north to The Straight in the South.

Although it does not include streets north of the Broadway between Northcote Avenue in the west to Southall park in the West.

Anyone under 16 is not allowed in the zone between 9pm and 6am unless with a parent or responsible adult aged 19 or over. Teenagers breaking the curfew will be taken home by police.

Anyone breaking the rules could face up to three months imprisonment or a fine up to £2500 or both. The zone will be active until November when it will be reviewed to see if it is still needed.

Superintendent Simon Message said: "The introduction of this dispersal zone sends a strong message that anti-social behaviour will not be tolerated. It will also ensure that the area and surrounding streets remains a safe environment for those residents and members of the public, who live, work and visit their local amenities now and in the future. It is important people witnessing any anti-social behaviour in the area report it to the police immediately."
