DETECTIVES are hunting a group of racist thugs who viciously attacked a man on his way to a Mosque.

At around 8.30pm on Sunday, September 25, the 25-year-old, who was dressed in full Islamic clothing, was walking along Australia Road on his way to Shepherds Bush Mosque.

He was approached by three white men opposite the Grey House, who began to hurl religious insults at him.

They threw several punches at him and dragged him to the ground, were they continued to beat him.

A passer by intervened and rushed to the man's attention causing them to stop.

All three then fled the scene, walking down Australia Road towards the A40.

The victim was taken by ambulance to a West London hospital suffering from facial injuries.

The suspects have all been described as white men, with English accents and all aged around 45 years old.

The first one is described as being fat, wearing an orange t-shirt, khaki coloured shorts above knee length, bald with a brown beard strip that went from his lower lip to his chin and around 5ft 7ins tall.

The second suspect is also around 5ft 7ins tall, fat and wearing a navy blue jumper and blue jeans.

The third is around 5ft 9ins tall and of medium build.

Detective James Gilly, based at the community safety unit at Fulham police station, said: "This was a senseless assault on someone that was simply going about his day to day business walking to the mosque. I would appeal to anyone who knows anything about the assault to come forward."
