A witness has spoken of his fears about crime after he stumbled onto the scene of a stabbing in his road.

John Lucas, of North Hyde Road, Hayes, says he saw the man slumped up against a nearby wall when he left his front gate at about 4.30pm on Saturday. The injured man was soon taken away by air ambulance.

Police have confirmed the 25-year-old victim is Guled Abdillahi and have said his injuries are not considered life threatening.

Mr Lucas said: "I've never seen so many police in my whole life. They cordoned off the whole area and a helicopter was hovering over my house. At 10pm the road was still closed off. The forensic team were out collecting evidence.

"But I have to say it's the sort of thing we expect around here, I've lived here for 30 years and in that time I've never been on holiday and I've kept a dog because I don't feel it's a safe
