The Hillingdon Borough Commander has spoken out after violent crimes in recent days have left the community shocked.

Chief Superintendent Nick Downing has released a statement to reassure people across the borough that police have stepped up patrols and are working to bring those involved in crime to justice.

"In the last few weeks we have seen a number of violent criminals brought before the courts and placed behind bars for a significant amount of time," he said.

"These results are borne from the continual determination and professionalism I witness every day from my policing team whose commitment to make Hillingdon a safer place is stronger then ever.

"As with all policing teams across London, there can be times which present greater challenges - the last four days are testimony to this," he said.

Four violent incidents are currently being investigated. All four crimes are isolated and Mr Downing said: "My specialists teams are working tirelessly to bring those who are involved to justice."

Two men will face a judge accused of manslaughter after an assault ended in a father-of-five’s death in  Hillingdon .

Mr Downing said: "A murder investigation was launched on September 18 following the death of a man on Ryefield Avenue in Hillingdon .

"Detectives from the Homicide and Serious Crime command arrested two men within a matter of hours, both men were charged with manslaughter and attended Uxbridge Magistrates Court on September 20.

"Officers have also arrested the driver of a vehicle which collided with a man in Cowley Road in Uxbridge . This driver is now charged and will be brought before the courts imminently. Fortunately, the injured man miraculously avoided serious injury and received cuts and bruises.

"Following an altercation between a group of young men on September 16 at Mulberry Parade in West Drayton, two teenage boys were left injured with knife wounds. Both are making a good recovery and have been discharged from hospital. The investigation team quickly identified and arrested one man who is the subject of further investigation.

"On Friday, September 19, in Coldharbour Lane, Hayes, a man was left requiring hospital treatment after he was stabbed

"Again police have made an arrest and a man has been charged. He appeared at court in custody on Monday 22 September. "

He went on to say: "Clearly no form of violence has any place in Hillingdon and we will not rest until we make every effort to make this borough the most hostile environment for anyone intent on committing serious violence.

"At present, we are working with our partners and key community members, to bring together a long-term strategy which will tackle serious violence and anti-social behaviour.

"To reassure our communities, we are delivering a stronger policing presence to the town centres of Uxbridge and Hayes , and we are closely monitoring any violence linked to our licensed premises.

"We want to encourage responsible drinking and remind those intent on street drinking, that this is strictly prohibited throughout the borough of Hillingdon. This effective legislation is proven to help us to protect our community from the annoyance of anti-social behaviour.

"Crucially we want to create as many conversations with those of you who have any concerns regarding crime and anti-social behaviour in your area, and listen and act on them."
