Police block Northolt street after reports a gun was seen

A Metropolitan Police spokesman says no gun was found, no shot was fired and nobody was injured

A convey of police blocked a road following reports of a gun seen by a member of the public.

Armed police were reported to be in Whitton Avenue, Northolt , last night (October 5) at about 7pm, where the road was closed for more than an hour.

A Metropolitan Police spokesman said: "Police were called at about 6pm on Sunday to reports of a firearm seen by a member of the public in Whitton Avenue West, Greenford.

"No firearm was found. No shot was fired. Nobody was injured.

"Officers attended the location and a man was arrested. He was later released without charge."

David Dwyer, who lives in the street, said: "There was a (police) helicopter overhead so we knew something big had gone on."
