A man who was found trapped beneath a car after being dragged by it during a dispute involving 15 men is in a critical condition.

Brent police are appealing for information and witnesses following the attempted murder of the victim after a fight broke out in the early hours of Saturday, September 6 in Harlesden High Street.

Police discovered a 27-year-old man trapped beneath a car having been dragged along the road for some distance.

It is believed the victim was part of a fight involving 15 to 20 men close to Chicken Cottage take-away by The Cleopatra Lounge.

As the victim moved away other members of the group jumped into separate vehicles.

Officers are aware that one of the vehicles, a silver Mercedes A Class, collided with the victim. He travelled on the bonnet for a distance before being thrown to the ground.

The Mercedes, registration V168 DLU, was seen by witnesses to speed from the scene.

As the victim lay on the road another vehicle, a silver Ford Focus, drove towards the injured victim before colliding with him. He appears to be dragged and trapped beneath the vehicle before the occupants all abandoned the car and fled.

Police have recovered the vehicle, registration BF14 FDN, but are appealing for information about the four or five occupants seen in the car on the night of the incident.

The victim was taken to a north London hospital where he remains in a critical condition.

Detective Chief Inspector, Noel McHugh, of the Homicide and Major Crime Command is investigating the incident, he said: "This was a shocking assault which has left a man fighting for his life.

"We are now keen to trace the silver Mercedes vehicle with a registration of V168 DLU, as well as the occupants seen travelling in this vehicle.

"I would ask that anyone who has carried out repairs to a vehicle matching this description or who has been asked to store it in their garage to contact us.

"We would also like to speak to anyone who could identify the men involved in the initial argument or who knew the occupants of the Ford Focus with a registration of BF14 FDN.

"Following previous appeals we are aware that some witnesses have removed items from the scene such as mobile phones - either from the vehicles or the road side. We appeal to those people to come forward and return any items as a matter of urgency."
