Detectives are appealing for information about a brutal assault on a 16-year-old girl which left her with serious facial injuries.

The victim was attacked after trying to defend her boyfriend during a fight which broke out between a small group of men at about 6pm in The Woodlands Park, Crown Street, Acton, on July 31.

She has had to have her jaw reconstructed and has been left distressed and in constant pain from her injuries.

The suspect in the assault which happened behind the shops opposite Acton Police Station in Acton High Street, is described as a black youth, aged about 17.

He was about 5ft 8ins tall, was wearing a grey tracksuit and ran off towards Acton High Street after the incident.

The victim was with a second female described as black, 15 years old, thin and tall with long black hair, wearing a distinctive bright yellow top.

Detective Constable William Garton of Hammersmith and Fulham CID said: “The level of violence directed towards this young girl is appalling. Especially as the victim was only trying to defend her boyfriend from multiple attackers.

“We would appeal to the public to help us find the person responsible. In particular we are appealing for any witnesses who saw the fight or a male matching the description of the suspect running from the scene.

“Any information received by police will be treated in complete confidence.”
