BY WITHDRAWING funding to the Hounslow Law Centre, Hounslow Council has done an injustice to the community, which has been availing of the free legal advice and representation.

The law centre has been providing high quality service to the most disadvantaged and vulnerable in our society for the last 30 years.

The people's representatives have decided to withdraw funding, which reflects that they care less for the community than they do their own interests, as your esteemed newspaper reported a few weeks ago under the headline 'Toys for boys', in which you revealed the councillors are provided with sophisticated mobiles and gadgets worth £70,000 by cutting grants to many voluntary organisations which serve the community.

One of your readers also reported in this column that the council is more interested in spending money on planting trees than supporting voluntary organisations that serve the community. Will the local authority reconsider its decision in the interest of the community at large by continuing the funding to the Law Centre, which is the only one of its kind in the borough?
