IF THE working week and the daily grind get you down, spare a thought for Pinner’s most hard-working cat.

Three-year-old Henry makes the long journey across Love Lane each morning to start his day as a charity shop’s furriest employee.

The now famous Pinner cat, who has his own Facebook page, waits for the manager of the RSPCA charity shop in Love Lane outside the door every day and gets to work on the counter.

Manager Pip Rowe said Henry has been visiting the shop every day for the last year.

She said: “He comes to the shop every day and goes home in the evening, his owners know he is here but he has become so popular.

“People have got so used to seeing him here that they bring him in treats and bits of food. He has got his own cushion on the counter and he is so friendly with everyone who comes in and he doesn’t mind who strokes him, he’s a sociable cat.”

Ms Rowe added: “He is like royalty here, sometimes he will have a bit of a run around and see what’s in the shop but then he just goes back to sitting on the counter, awaiting his public.”

The honorary feline employee even takes time out of his busy day to wander through the car park to Marks and Spencers at lunchtime.

The cat, whose owners live in Love Lane, has a twin brother called Hugh who is also a familiar furry face in the village.

More than 18 volunteers work at the shop, which raises funds for the animal welfare charity.

Ms Rowe said: “I don’t know why he chose this store, but he’s probably just trying to help his fellow animals and people are more generous with donations if he is sitting on the counter. It’s certainly a bonus for us as people come in to see him – he’s an asset to the shop.”
