Pinner hair salon owner and British Hairdresser of the Year nominee Darren Ambrose has been backstage for Wella System Professional Luxe Styling, heading up the hair team for Gyunel’s London Fashion Week show.

With models including Yasmin and Amber Le Bon and a star-studded front row, Darren who co owns D&J Ambrose in Bridge Street, Pinner devised the look, Tribalesque Chic.

This was to reflect the background of the collection which is strongly influenced by tribal prints as well as muted desert tones.

The hair was created to embody a traditional and tribal look which would complement the Gyunel collection and add a whimsical but luxe element.

Darren, assisted by a team that included D&J Ambrose team members Kieran Tudor and Luke Benson, said: “It was a great creative exercise to design the hair for a LFW show and to work closely with Gyunel on the look – the braids really capture the tribal element but without being too literal, they’re beautiful and wearable.”

To get the look, follow these simple steps:

1) Freshly wash and condition hair, use System Professional Keratin Protect Shampoo and System

2) Professional Keratin Restore Treatment

3) Prep the hair with the System Professional Luxe Oil NEW travel size 30ml to the mid lengths and ends and System Professional Elegant Shape Mouse to the crown. Blow-dry with a round brush for a smooth finish

4) Once the hair is dry, spray with System Professional Luxe Light Oil Spray, sectioning the hair to ensure product is distributed evenly

5) Take a side section of the hair from the parting and make a french plait, working your way towards the back of the neck, ensuring the braid is tight and secure, pin in to place

6) On the opposite side, take the remaining hair and create another braid working the hair down, secure with hair band

7) Section the top of the hair pulling some hair from the front of the head to the crown and put to one side

8) Take the hair from below and backcomb before creating a ponytail and securing in place

9) Now twist the hair around the ponytail base to create a chignon then secure and grip into place

10) Take the hair on top of the head that was put to one side, roughly plait and loosely grip into the bun chignon at the back of the hair. Do the same with the remaining braids

11) Finish by using System Professional Perfect Hold to ensure the look stays in place

12) Lastly lightly spray the System Professional Luxe oil Spray over the braids to give a high shine effect
