Revellers got their kicks in all manner of ways at a mela in Norwood Green yesterday.

Karate demonstrations during the free day-long festival in Norwood Green Park proved a flying success.

But others took it easier, lying back and soaking up the sun as they took in the sounds from top performers on the big stage.

Event organiser Jaz Walia, of Asian Events Media, said the Norwood Green Mela drew an estimated crowd of 1,000 during the course of the day.

Youngsters enjoyed face-painting, fairground rides and a bouncy castle, among other attractions.

Adults were able to sample food from around the world and browse stalls selling international fashion goods.
