Pupils at Forge Lane Primary School baked bread and were seen cheese tasting as part of an interactive tour at Tesco's in Feltham.

Children aged seven and eight at the school, which is attached to an autistic unit, were the most recent group to find out more about what they eat on the farm to fork trail around the store, last Friday (17).

It forms part of the Tesco Eat Happy project created to help children understand where the food on their plate comes from and how it gets there.

During the day out at the supermarket children turned bakers complete with a chef hat and apron to bake bread.

Other activities in the fun-filled educational day included a cheese tasting spree, a visit to the fish counter and a quiz up and down the fruit and vegetables aisles where they were asked to guess which country certain foods were from.

The day will end with each child being presented with a goody bag.

By mid-November each year group from the Hanworth school would have been on the trip.

Another phase of the project is the Farm to Fork Cooking for children in stores, working in partnership with the Children’s Food Trust.
