Shoppers in Hounslow checked out the new, expanded Hounslow market as it was officially launched on Saturday.

Bargain hunters were treated to live music from West London Brass, and entertainment from a pair of panto dames and a top hula hooper during the day.

They were also able to stroll among a crop of giant, illuminated tulips lighting the way to the market at the west end of the High Street.

The market, now run by Tudor Markets, opened in October in Bell Square with about a dozen stalls.

It has now expanded to run both sides of Bell Road from Tuesday to Friday, and in the High Street only on Saturdays.

The new market replaces a trial version last year, which faced criticism over the quality of produce and the amount of rubbish created, but the new operators claim to have addressed these issues.
