Youngsters sent a message to family members and friends in the sky during a sponsored walk for a children's bereavement charity.

Halo Children's Foundation, which holds monthly group sessions at Uxbridge College Children’s Centre in College Way, Hayes, organised the walk to raise funds and awareness of the work it does.

After releasing balloons with messages for loved ones attached, walkers took off on the 5k walk at Barra Hall Park in Hayes.

The charity provides advice, information and support to parents and gives children a place to share experiences to help them smile and laugh again.

Founder and mum-of-two Alia Jones launched the charity after she lost her partner in 2011, two weeks after giving birth to her second child Jaida, while older sister Neveah was only two-years-old.

She has been nominated for an award at the Hillingdon's Local Heroes awards on June 5.

The Mayor and Mayoress of Hillingdon, Allan and Lynn Kauffman, sent around 60 walkers on their way after cutting the start line ribbon.
