Youngsters in Heston nearly blew the roof of their school's new gazebo as they marked its unveiling with a rousing carol concert.

The large wooden pavilion was built at The Rosary Catholic Primary School, in The Green, Heston, using a £10,000 Big Lottery Fund grant.

The seven-and-a-half metre wide shelter will be used as an outdoor play and learning area, as well as becoming the focal point for social events at the school.

It was officially opened on Friday (December 19), when it hosted the school's end of term community gathering, Carols Around the Crib.

Feltham and Heston MP Seema Malhotra joined headteacher Tressa Paczek and school volunteer Peter Edwards for the opening ceremony.
