Come and pick up some potatoes tomorrow and help feed the homeless at the same time.

City Harvest London Food Rescue Network has more spuds than it can handle after a generous donation and volunteers are worried they will go bad before chefs cooking for the homeless can use them all.

So tomorrow volunteers are planning to hand out 800 kilogrammes of them to anyone who would like some, for a small donation to the cause. The donation is mainly needed to cover the cost of the van the charity had to hire to transport the vegetables.

They will be in Acton Market in The Mount, outside Morrisons from 8am until about 4pm or whenever they run out.

The charity provides food, toiletries and other essentials to other charities across the capital, including Acton Homeless Concern, and has a warehouse in Brent Cross.

Coordinator Mark Harvey said: “This is a great way for the community to get involved to help those who need it.”
