Piccadilly line tubes were bought to a standstill today after somebody threw themselves in front of a train before commuters at Turnham Green Station.

An East Bound Piccadilly line train was bought to a standstill after the person jumped off the platform just as the train was pulling in to the station at 3.20pm.

A spokesman for TfL said: "The station was closed and all passengers were removed from the train as British Transport Police attended the scene.

"The train has also been removed."

The station was re-opened and the line was running smoothly again by 4.50pm with only minor delays.

The identity of the person who jumped in front of the train is as yet unknown.
