The Environment Agency has issued a flood alert for the River Pinn this morning after persistent overnight rain has caused it to burst its banks in some areas.

Gardens near to the Pinn in Swakeleys Road, Ickenham and fields next to Hercies Road and Harefield Road both in Uxbridge are currently under water.

On the A40 from the M40 towards Ickenham there are severe delays as one lane has been closed due to flooding.

The Environment Agency issued this report about the River Pinn early this morning:

"River levels have reacted to the persistent rain that has fallen overnight and this morning. rivers are expected to rise, resulting in flooding to low lying land, roads and gardens next to the river.

"Surface water flooding can also be expected in some locations. We are expecting showers throughout the day and we will continue to monitor the situation."
