Heavy and persistent rain that fell overnight has today left many areas of the borough hidden under flood water.

The Environment Agency's Flood Alert on the River Pinn is still in place and it burst its banks earlier flooding gardens, parks and some of the borough's sports facilities.

Hillingdon Golf Club have been left with a lake instead of a green after the Pinn rose about the height of a bridge and flooded the 6th hole.

Gardens near to the Pinn in Swakeleys Road, Ickenham and fields next to Hercies Road and Harefield Road both in Uxbridge have also been left waterlogged.

Earlier drivers were warned to avoid the A40 heading into Ickenham from the M40 after one lane was closed due to floods.

The Environment Agency is monitoring the situation.

Uxbridge has seen a mostly dry and bright day today but weather reports indicate the rain will return to the borough again this evening and continue through most of Saturday.
