Dozens of pensioners showed they still had a spring in their step during the Older People awareness day celebrations.

Goldsmith Close Residents Association held the event in Goldsmiths' Close, Acton, on Saturday to raise awareness of health and well-being for older people.

Pensioners played the Wii console and took part in Tai Chi classes while others enjoyed head and hand massages and had health check-ups.

Association secretary Melody Robinson said: "The day was terrific considering the weather.

"We had a bbq and planting demonstrations and the Safer Neighbourhood Police team chatted to the people about any concerns they had.

"It seemed there was no age divide as everyone showed that you're only as young as you feel and lots of people took part in the Tai Chi classes which encourages them to stay fit and active."
