An initiative to encourage volunteers to team up to keep streets clean and litter-free has begun, and you can sign up.

The scheme, entitled 'Rubbish Friends', kicked off on Friday when it was launched by Hannah David, the Conservative parliamentary candidate for Harrow West.

Mrs David said: “One of the things that people in Harrow are most concerned about is that our borough is not as clean and tidy as it used to be.

"The Rubbish Friends is one practical approach to tackling this problem. Of course we are only a small group, but I hope over time more people will join us, or set up their own 'Rubbish Friends' groups.”

The group's first outing had the group pick up 23 bags of litter in Rayners Lane.

If you would like to get involved in Rubbish Friends, or suggest a location for the next rubbish friends meeting, send an email to  contact@hannahdavid.co.uk .
