Parents are warned that time is running out for them to make their children's’ secondary school applications.

The deadline is Friday, October 31 - and Hillingdon Council says a late application could mean a child is denied the school of their choice, even if it is close to home or if a sibling goes there already.

Its school admissions team is encouraging parents to apply for more than one school and that they should consider local schools as well as others further away.

You can apply online at www.hillingdon.gov.uk/schools, or request a paper application form through your child’s primary school.

Councillor David Simmonds, the council’s cabinet member for children’s services and education, said: “We encourage all parents to go along to the open evenings so they can ask the teaching staff and current pupils the questions that will help them decide which school will suit their child best.

“School places fill quickly so we are reminding all parents to make sure that they submit their applications by 31 October.”
