REFLEXOLOGY, manicures, pedicures and different types of massage were some of the taster therapies on offer at a charity fundraising night.

The Michael Sobell Hospice, based at Mount Vernon Hospital in Northwood, hosted the event, at which more than 150 people tried all sorts of beauty treatments and enjoyed stalls selling cakes, crafts, jewellery and chocolates. People paid £15 each for a ticket, which all went to the hospice.

The London School of Theology allowed use of its venue, in Green Lane, free of charge.

More than £2,600 was raised to help support the centre, which offers palliative care to people nearing the end of life.

Beverley Garber and Pam Witterick, two of the hospice’s volunteers, organised the evening.

“We felt it went very well and everyone was delighted with what was on offer,” said Mrs Witterick.

“This is the first one we’ve done and, judging by the comments, there’s a possibility this may well be an annual event.

“We’re very grateful to the therapists and everyone who turned up on the night.”

Mrs Garber said: "I would like to say a big thank you to all the people who attended the indulgence evening, making it a huge success for the Michael Sobell Hospice and, of course it wouldn't be possible without all the many volunteers, including myself, willing to give up their free time to help such a worthy cause."

The next event the pair are organising is the annual Vintage Fair and afternoon tea with entertainment, on July 13.
