REMARKABLE is the word of the day as students from Twyford High School receive their A level results.

The school can boast nine students getting their offers to Oxbridge, along with general results that were ‘well above target’- 99% overall pass rate and 87% A*-C grades.

Clare Smedley, Jessica Richards, Josie Lyon, Alex Peppiatt, Lorna McKinnon, Toby McMaster, Sareeka Linton, George Bryan, and Esme Neale all got the grades needed. Linton, who is going to study Geography at Cambridge, said the whole experience was ‘unexpected and surreal’ and she was ‘still in shock’.

Executive Headteacher Alice Hudson said, “It has taken us a little while to build up Oxbridge expertise-in areas such as extended projects-they deserve a gold medal for their achievements."

She believes it is the extended projects, EPQ, that has given students an edge and allowed them to "strengthen their knowledge outside the course and come up with some fantastic titles in interesting subjects".

It wasn’t just the Oxbridge candidates who were celebrating. Arielle Tchiprout, who got three A*, was so shocked that she may defer her place at Nottingham to reapply next year. Overall many students got offers to their first or second choice university.
