Dedicated runners raised over £4,000 for a local Hospice after taking part in Wembley's Run to the Beat 10k challenge.

There were 20 runners out of the 15,000 taking part who were raising money for Kenton based, St Luke's Hospice on Sunday last week (September 14).

Run to the Beat is a 10k running event where live DJ's pump out music and motivational beats. The route started at the iconic Wembley Stadium, going through Preston Road, Kingsbury, Fryent Way and finally finishing back at the stadium.

A group of six runners, called the Dancing Queens, chose to run for St Luke’s, Nita Amba, Chandrika Hirani, Sonal Hirani, Aisha Hirani, Jyoti Hirani and Joti Manji.

Jyoti, 39, from Stanmore said: "I always wanted to start running but always seem to find an excuse not to go. When I heard about the Sure Run to Beat 10K run and it actually taking place locally I thought this would be a great opportunity to start running and to do something for a local charity at the same time."

Joti, 37, from Kenton added: "The work that St Luke’s provides for the community in caring for patients and the support they give is amazing. We never know what is around the corner for us and I am glad that St Luke’s is there for me if I ever need it."

The other runners who took part for St Luke’s included Marlon Burton, Wayne and Colleen Cosby, Max Graves, Gary Keohen, Himat Kerai, Paul Mcloughlin, Anthony Neal, Alpa Patel, Rekha Patel, Seamus Shanley, Karly Wake and Amy Watson.
