A popular and 'outstanding' head teacher said farewell to a school she has run for eight years at an afternoon tea party.

Lynn Rowlands is leaving Canons High School in August to take on the next stage of her career, she will be handing over her role as head to the current deputy head teacher, Keven Bartle.

On Monday, July 14, the school in Shaldon Road, Edgware hosted a tea party with tea, scones and a medley from the school choir who have recently been working with the BBC.

Lynn's many achievements in leading the school have included two ‘outstanding’ Ofsted judgements in 2010 and 2013, the Evening Standard Schools Award in 2011, and the prestigious Challenge Award for Able, Gifted and Talented pupils.

This year the school was awarded Teaching School status in partnership with Park High School in Thistlecroft Gardens, Stanmore while Lynn has been recognised as a National Leader of Education.

Lynn is moving on to take up opportunities with local and national organisations, supporting the work of other school leaders.

Keven Bartle will take up his role in September.
