NORTHWOOD School celebrated its best-ever GCSE results this year, with 82 per cent of pupils gaining five or more A*-C grades.

Including maths and English, the figure was 52 per cent. Headteacher Graeme Atkins said it was an outstanding achievement for the school, which has improved its results in each of the last three years.

"There is a real buzz around Northwood School at the moment, it's a really positive place to be and we're looking forward to even greater success next year," said Mr Atkins.

Five pupils scored at least eight A* or A grades and among them was Naomi Shakespeare. The 16-year-old explained that she had been travelling from High Wycombe by car and bus to finish her last year in school.

Thankfully, her family's move to Northwood will take place in time for her to start sixth-form there. Naomi told the Gazette: "I have been to a lot of schools but this is the best one."
