AFTER four and a half months of prevarication, of resorting to ever more ludicrous justifications for the secrecy they were so desperately trying to cling on to, Ealing and Hounslow councils have been forced to cave in.

From now on, meetings of the Gunnersbury Park Regeneration Board, which debates all matters concerned with the future of Gunnersbury Park, will no longer be held in secret but will be open to the public, as it should be in a democracy.

The councils had no doubt hoped that their delaying tactics and latterly their refusal to answer correspondence from residents would result in our becoming discouraged and giving up.

But when we are fighting for a just cause we never give up, and we can bring to account these people who seem to have forgotten we elected them to represent us and serve our communities.
