More than 1,000 people descended upon Inwood Park in Hounslow to watch the animated film 'Up' under the stars on Saturday (August 2).

The free open-air screening was preceded by a festival, including a parade in which youngsters wearing handmade masks joined giant exotic birds like the one featured in the Disney/Pixar movie.

Families also enjoyed hunting down healthy treats, donated by local allotment holders, as they explored an edible maze.

Other attractions included a Wildlife Explorer tent, where youngsters got to pet and feed animals including snakes and a tarantula, and a pop-up youth zone, with activities including football, croquet and jewellery-making.

Visitors also worked with the creative group Paint My Panda to create a stunning graffiti mural, which will hang in the park as a permanent reminder of the special evening.

The Friends of Inwood Park teamed up with Together We Create and the Saturday School of Polish Language Pro Polonia to win the right to host the film screening.

People were then invited to choose the movie they wanted to watch as part of the Our Park Presents event, run by the council's parks contractor Carillion Integrated Services in conjunction with Film London.

Aga Miedzinska and Agnieszka Chojnacka–Wojtulewicz, of the Saturday School of Polish Language Pro Polonia, said: "Being part of the Our Park Presents team has provided a great platform for community and voluntary organisations to work together to deliver a successful outdoor event.

Adrian Wootton, CEO of Film London and the British Film Commission, said: "Through Film Hub London we are delighted to have supported this truly inclusive event, which has brought new film activity to London's outer boroughs.

"The team at Carillion Integrated Services have done an excellent job of uniting the communities of Hounslow through film, and I believe they have laid the groundwork for a thriving film-watching culture in the area."

Sarah Hoyle, of the arts charity Together We Create, which ran games at the event, said: "I think Our Park Presents was amazing. From the early meetings to the end, this project was all about community collaboration and partnerships. The commitment from everyone involved was first class and you could tell; there was an incredible buzz and feeling of happiness in the air. Bring on Inwood 2015."
