POPSTARS Niall Horan and Liam Payne from One Direction left shoppers stunned when they performed a surprise gig at Westfield London on Thursday.
Having arrived to the centre shortly after 4pm, two of the five band members created a surge of excitement amongst unassuming shoppers who were ecstatic to see them turn-up for an impromptu performance.
Guitar in hand, Niall strolled along The Southern Terrace with bandmate Liam, who commandeered one of Westfield’s house bands playing on the pop-up stage as part the centre’s jam-packed summer entertainment programme.
With backing from one of Westfield’s bands Soul Chango, the boys performed a spontaneous version of ‘What Makes You Beautiful’ and got the crowd to sing along. There were scores of screaming girls in the audience, many filming the performance on their mobile phones.
Westfield London has rapidly established itself as an iconic shopping destination, attracting A-list names and key London figures through its unique brand mix and shopping environment. Celebrities including Justin Bieber, Mariah Carey, Beyoncé, Jake Gyllenhall and Lady Gaga are just a few of many stars that have been seen out and about in Westfield London.
